QR Codes still split opinion with many marketing professional. They are either a great new tool or a fad that will be forgotten about in the blink of the eye. Guinness obviously believe the QR codes are relevant and have release a innovative new glass.
The team behind Guinness' marketing over in America have released a new pint pot that features a scannable QR Code , however their is a catch the code can only be scanned when the glass is filled with the famous black stuff.
When the code is scanned it allows users to tweet about their pint, update their Facebook status and even check-in to the bar using location based software. The genius behind this campaign is that it only works when the glass is filled with Guinness and not with other "ordinary beers". Guinness is one of the most famous beers around the world and is known as much for its innovative marketing and branding as for it's unique colour.
One thing is for sure Arthur Guinness will be pleased with the latest effort from the marketing team and the amount of attention this new glass has got for his famous brand.
